- Memory Screening
Firstly, let’s talk about when Dementia occurs. Dementia predominantly is set when nerve cells in a person’s brain stop working. Although it typically happens in older people, it is not an inevitable part of aging. The brain’s natural deterioration happens to everyone as they grow older, but it occurs more quickly in people with dementia.
Hope Ek A.S.H.A. currently offers assessments for the elderly over 60 years of age to identify cases of MCI (Mild Cognitive Impairment) and provide advice on treatment, therapy, and brain stimulation activities that can significantly slow memory decline at the proper time. Our mission is to empower seniors and their families with the knowledge, guidance, and resources needed to manage cognitive health effectively.
MCI is a subtle but noticeable decline in cognitive abilities that is often considered a precursor to more severe conditions like Alzheimer's disease. Early detection and intervention can make a significant difference in the quality of life for seniors. Our assessments are tailored to identify signs of MCI, enabling us to initiate appropriate measures at the right time.
Research has consistently shown that Alzheimer's disease typically develops about 10 to 15 years after the initial diagnosis of MCI. This knowledge underscores the importance of early identification and intervention in order to delay the progression of cognitive decline. By identifying cases of MCI and offering guidance on treatment, therapy, and brain stimulation activities, we aim to empower seniors to proactively manage their cognitive health. In doing so, we not only enhance their quality of life but also alleviate the emotional and financial burden placed on their families.
Our memory screening initiative commenced in late 2019, and since then, we have conducted a total of 1560 screenings. Among these screenings, we have detected 167 cases of Alzheimer's disease. The journey doesn't end with diagnosis; we provide continuous support through monthly follow-ups and memory screening. This ongoing commitment ensures that seniors and their families have access to the care and resources they need to navigate the challenges associated with cognitive decline.
Memory Screening is conducted for all above the age of 60 years.
This project has been taken in hand to identify the cases of MCI (Mild Cognitive Impairment) so that they are advised the treatment and brain stimulation activities to considerably slow the process of decline of memory at the right time. It has been well documented that Alzheimer disease sets in about 10-15 years after the diagnosis of MCI. If Alzheimer disease is diagnosed at an early stage, its progress slows down drastically. This project helps elders to lead a quality life and reduces the emotional and financial burden on the family.
We conduct medical camps at different locations and simultaneously conduct Memory Screening for all willing participants above the age of 60 years to detect persons from Memory Loss and advise them accordingly.
