Doctor by profession Mrs. Sushma Chawla born in 1951 and completed her MBBS degree from Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi in the year 1973. She has been in family practice since 1979 have been working in the field of Gynaecology & Obstetrics and running her own clinic in Greater Kailash - II, New Delhi.
She has been the Chief Medical Officer for IDBI Ltd., REC Ltd., PTC Ltd., Bhartiya Mahila Bank, TFCI Ltd. TFCI Ltd. and BBMB at Delhi office. Presently She is the Chief Medical Officer for IFCI Ltd., IVCF Ltd., and IVCF Venture.
She is contributing to the fraternity by being a Lifetime Member of Indian Medical Association, Delhi Medical Association, Indian Medical Association (South Delhi Branch) Indian Menopause Society and Delhi Diabetic forum. She has carried the glory of Indian medicine in National and International conferences and presented papers on subjects of interest and research.
Dr. Sushma Chawla is the Founder President of Hope Ek A.S.H.A. an NGO working for the care of Senior Citizens suffering from Alzheimer’s / Dementia (Memory Loss) and their caregivers through its committed team of medical professionals and volunteers.
Her mother suffered from AD and she was the caregiver for her mother for five years with very little awareness about the disease. She realized that she was becoming very stressful day by day. After her death she decided to form a support group, a common platform for the caregivers to share their anxieties and all alone pledged for creating mass awareness about the disease and headed for home Care of patients and their caregivers. Today she more than 100 volunteers working with her.
Her mission of setting up a “Day Care Centre” for the Alzheimer disease patients of stage I and II is very near. All this is done by her to give respite to the family caregivers who are main sufferer.
She has also participated two ADI Conferences one at Toronto (Canada) and other at Christ Church at Newzeland and has learnt activities in "Day Care Centres"
Recently she has invited as a Plenary Speaker at “14th World Summit on Alzheimer’s Dementia Care Research and Awareness” to be held in Boston on 31 st August and 1 st September 2018. Her topic of the paper is ‘Legal and Financial Issues Of Dementia Patients’.
She is also running a memory clinic at Greater Kailash - II and wants to open more clinics on PAN India basis.
She is a proud mother of a daughter, an MBA and a son dental surgeon working in USA. Both married and living happily. She is now a grandmother fully supported by her husband in this endeavour.
